Kirby Marine Seminar and Cruise

July 21, 2007

KirbyTowfromWebPageThe local yacht clubs were invited to the annual Kirby Marine seminar and cruise aboard the "Observer."

She was built in 1948 and refurbished into a VIP tow boat.

Great seminar on how to interact with the two boat captains.

Always important with boaters... lunch was catered by Pappasito's Cantina

Kirby tow driver training simulator.

Left is Captain Roy Murphy (Director of Training at Kirby).

Bob is at the controls trying to maneuver the two barge tow sideways in the Houston Ship Channel to pick up a man overboard.

Right is Philip Kropf, Commodore for the Texas Mariners Cruisers Association. Phil just finished his time on the simulator.

Behind the scenes adding people in the water, fog, ships and radio calls is Captain John Moyle (not pictured).
