Duffy Boat Cruise in Balboa CA February 16, 2007 - |
|
We're off to attend a conference hosted by the American Board of Hypnotherapy in Irvine CA. We arrived a day early and decided to take a cab ride to Newport Beach so we could visit one of our favorite places, Balboa island and Balboa peninsula. After breakfast downtown Balboa at a quaint restaurant, we took the fairy across to the peninsula. We thought we'd catch the transport to Catalina Island but we'd missed the boat - one per day and it left during our egg course. We met a lady on the fairy who said what she likes to do is charter a Duffy electric boat and tour the harbor by water. |

What's a Duffy boat? Once you see one, you see them everywhere. We couldn't go 100 feet without seeing a handful of them. Many years ago they were designed and built by W. D. Schock, builder of the Santana line of sailboats. Our Santana was owned and raced by one of W. D.s sons. The name of the boat was Schock Treatment. That was fitting since I was an Associate School Psychologist at the time. Currently, they are built by the Duffy Electric Boat company. Below are some sites from the Duffy Boat. |

You can walk around Balboa island and view some of the most interesting homes along the way. Some are originals, some are remodels and some are brand new. The differences in architecture is amazing. Several are rentals. The temperature in February was pleasant and the weather picture perfect. |
